Where it all began...
I had been begging my parents for dog's for years but it wasn't until I was 12 years old that we got our first Irish Setter. The plan was to get a great pet (which we got) and we didn't plan on showing him at all. Well the universe had other plans for us as my mother becamse a dog trainer and later the Manager of the Icelandic Kennel Club. In the meantime I joined Junior handling and later showed our dogs and for other as well. We added to our dogs and got a Tibetan Spaniel, Afghan hounds and Standard Poodle.
I started to develop more interest in the dog shows and I started to write for judges and became a ring stewardess. Then in 2012 the Icelandic Kennel Club in co-operation with the Danish Kennel Club invited members in the kennel club to apply to become a dog judge student. I decided to apply and I got accepted as a student, after that we got a 2 days course about anatomy, judging, critique writing as well with hands on learning. After the 2 day course we had a very extensive exam both written and oral and I was very pleased to be one of the students that passed. After this exam I became a dog judge student in the ring and I was twice a student for each of my breed. I studied in Iceland, Denmark and Ireland and it was great experience to get to learn from all those great judges. After having been a student twice where the dog judges which I was student with judged my knowledge I had another exam and this time I went to denmark to take it. It was very hard oral exam but I was very pleased to have passed:) After this I became an aspirant judge which ment that I had to judge two times my breeds and then the judge who was judging while I was aspirant checked if I was on the right way, my knowledge etc. When I had done that twice all my critques were sent to denmark for approval by the danish dog judge comittee. I was very please to be accepted as a judge for Golden Retrievers, Labradors, English and American Cockers. I have now added Siberian Huskies, Icelandic Sheep dogs, Cavaliers and Tibetan Spaniels to my rights. I am currently studying Schnauzers of all sizes and color variations, Flat Coated Retriever, Chihuahua long/short haired, french bulldog and pug.
As well as being a dog judge I am also an engineer by profession, married and have two boys and Irish Setter.

My learning
I have been very lucky to be a judge student with some of the greatest judges out there and also taken a few courses such as:
- Confirmation and movement (Frank Kane)
- Canine Anatomy (Freyja Kristinsdóttir veterinarian)
- Show rules (Lilja Dora Halldorsdottir)
- Anatomy and judging for beginners (Hans-Ake Sperne, Sweden)
- Two day judge training course and exams (tought by Svend Lövenkjær, Annette Bystrup, Krestedn Scheel and Hanne Laine)
I am working on putting everything I have learned about my breeds on this website so other judge students can learn as well.
